The Colonnaded Street starts west from the city walls. It continues 118 m from the north of Heroon (Hero’s Grave) to the west. Excavations under the Alanya Museum occurred here between 1994-1999 and revealed 10 large sections. The street was formed by flattening the bedrock. To the north of the street are two-storey rooms and niches. There is a portico in front of the bedrock. Granite columns are used in the portico. It is possible to see these columns on the ground. The total height of the granite columns is 3.60 m. Several Corinthian column capitals were found on the street. Some of the Colonnaded Street rooms have been excavated. Traces indicate that these rooms are two-storey. Stepped corridors providing access to the upper terraces were identified in two places. On the west end of the street, there are two inscriptions, one on the wall and the other on the ground.  These are the inscriptions of athletes who won victories in sporting game competitions. Some inscriptions found during the work of the Alanya Museum on the Colonnaded Street are dated to the end of the 2nd century CE and the beginning of the 3rd century CE. One of them was found in front of a large room to the east of the Colonnaded Street during the work of the Alanya Museum in 1994. This inscription is 46 lines of ancient Greek. It was written on behalf of the Roman emperor Septimius Severus (193-211 CE) to Syedra and dated to 194 CE. Some inscriptions on the colonnaded street are honorary inscriptions of important people of the city. These inscriptions show that the statues were of people honored by the city council on Colonnaded Street. Under the Colonnaded Street, there are also canals and cisterns for water circulation.

ROMA HAMAMI/ THE ROMAN BATH

The most magnificent structure of Syedra is the Roman Bath. The building is also called the Great Bath. It is one of the best preserved buildings in the city. It is located just south of the Colonnaded Street. The baths are built on the hillside. For this reason, the steps from the street to the baths were used. There are canals carrying water to the structure under these stairs. The western section of the building is more organized. Apses were built to the north of these sections. The eastern sections are not symmetrical. The Roman Bath was built on at least two floors. The niches were built on the walls and gave this structure mobility. Some parts of the building show frescoes. Particularly in the frigidarium, the walls are well preserved. A thick rubble layer formed inside the structure after roof was demolished. However, in some sections, the floor was found to be mosaic. The places to the east of the Roman Bath are defined as gymnasia. The water supply for this complex came from the cisterns in the north. The first excavations in the bath started in 2019. Cleaning and excavation work was carried out in the Frigidarium section. The Roman Bath was dated to the 2nd-3rd century CE.

Akropol/ Acropolis

In the Acropolis, there is a structure consisting of three rooms side-by-side in the east-west direction. The entrance to the structure is one of the steps in the south. A small church was built to the south of this building. The floor is paved with bricks. In some parts, the frescoes were partially preserved. To the west of the church, marble imitation frescoes were made on the narthex walls. The church dates back to the 12th century. This area was excavated in 1997. The ceramics found here date from the 3rd century to the 12th century. The structures seen in the acropolis were built in the Late Periods. However, the reused blocks in the buildings are inscribed and indicate that there were different structures in the earlier period. In one of these inscriptions is written advice from oracle of Claros  to Syedra. The inscription is dated to the 1st century BC. Other inscriptions date back to 212 AD. In the inscriptions, Syedra honors the winners of various sports such as boxing and wrestling.

Excavations at the chapel started and finished in 2019. While the chapel was built, blocks from different structures were used. This single-nave chapel measures 7.63 m x 7.84 m x 5.50 m. The southern lateral wall of the structure is accentuated with two blind niches. There is a large church to the east of this chapel. The chapel was built between the 10th and 12th centuries CE after the great church.

BÜYÜK KİLİSE / LARGE CHURCH

Kilise bazilikal plana sahiptir ve üç neflidir. Apsisin kuzeyinde kare planlı geniş pastaphorion hücresi bulunmaktadır. Kilisenin batısında dar bir narteks uzanır. Bu kilise MS 5. yüzyıla tarihlenmektedir.

The church has a basilica plan and has three naves. To the north of the apse is a large square pastaphorion cell. A narrow narthex extends to the west of the church. This church dates back to the 5th century CE.

This cave is called Vaftis Cave (Baptismal Cave). The walls of the cave are flattened. There is a niche on the eastern wall and a pool in front of it. The walls of the cave are decorated with frescoes. These frescoes show writings and figures.

KAYNAK MAĞARASI/ CAVE WITH THE SPRING

It is called Cistern Cave or Cave with the Spring. The cave has a natural spring water and architectural additions were made and used in the ancient period. The cave measures 8 m x10 m. Spring water comes from the cliffs behind the cave and reaches the cave from a small section. The cave was also used in the late period. There is a cistern just in front of the cave. Water flows infrequently today. This water fills the large cisterns in the south and is now used for agriculture.
